The Hostgator Baby plan is their intermediate service for those of you that need to host more than one domain at a time. If you only need to host one domain with Hostgator, you would save money by signing up for their Hatchling plan which allows you to only have one domain on your web hosting package.

What do you get on the Baby plan that you don’t get with Hatchling and what is the price difference?

Pretty much the main difference between Hatchling and Baby is the fact that Baby allows you unlimited domains. That’s it. If you have more than one domain, you need the Baby plan.

The only other difference between the two is that Baby allows you to have Private SSL on your account for $2/month extra. If you plan to take credit card details or any payment or personal information through your site, i.e. if you plan on selling anything, then you NEED Private SSL to encrypt the page and keep your customers details secure. You can only do that on the Baby or Business plan.

I personally now use Baby for all my sites and it is the only package I really need. The Business package has a few extras that I wouldn’t mind having, but for right now Baby does everything I need it to do.

For a couple of dollars extra a month, it’s a great deal to go for this plan instead of Hatchling and get the unlimited domains.
